What does the Education Council do?

Good education for all: that is what the Education Council contributes to. The council has been advising the government and the Senate and House of Representatives on education policy and legislation for over a hundred years. Requested and of its own accord. This results in well-founded explorations and advice that focus on long-term solutions. They cover all forms of education: from pre-school facilities to post-university education and lifelong development.

The council is independent and at the same time at the centre of society and education. Its advice is based on scientific knowledge and insights. And they are fed by knowledge and experience from educational practice and the practice of education legislation and policy. The Youth Education Council, with pupils and students of various ages and school types, feeds the council with experiences and ideas about Dutch education and contributes ideas on topics.
